Plopp Standard Stool
The Plopp Stool is an original, iconic object and a flagship of Zieta Studio. It is a symbol of multi-award wining designer and artists Oskar Zięta’s research into the properties and possibilities of metal.
The Plopp Stool is a story of technology, deformation, and fulfilled dreams. It is the story of an object that was an experiment of a young assistant at ETH Zurich, and is now part of the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
Plopp is a manifesto of the FiDU technology and the “controlled loss of control” process. Two ultra-thin steel sheets are welded together around their edges and inflated under high pressure, deforming a 2.5D flat form into a 3D object. Ultra lightweight and extremely sturdy, Plopp can withstand a load of 2.5 tonnes.
